Mitchell Tour Studio becomes latest SST PURE licensee

May 13, 2005

MIAMI – The Mitchell Tour Studio at Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Fla., is the latest quality addition to the SST PURE Shaft Alignment network.

The Mitchell Tour Studio, which opened February 1, is a complete tour performance club fitting and repair shop that offers custom-fitted name-brand clubs and custom-built components. This shop is the first of its kind and brings another service to the golf programs offered at this premier 36-hole championship golf resort.

“As the technology of golf advances, more and more clubmakers realize that you simply cannot build a high-performance golf club without SST PURE,” SST founder Dick Weiss said. “Adding the Mitchell Golf name, which has long been a standard in the clubmaking industry, to our distribution network is a testament to that.”

The Mitchell Tour Studio staff includes Paul Bessler and Jay Schrader, both PGA Golf Professionals skilled in understanding how the golf swing and equipment must be blended to create tour performance.

Bessler is a 28-year PGA member who has been “Pro of the Year” and “Teacher of the Year” in the Indiana Section of the PGA. Both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine have named Bessler as “One of America’s Top Teachers” since 1999. In 1993 Paul was named clubmaker of the year by the Professional Clubmaker’s’ Society.

Jay is a 12-year member of both the PGA of America and The Professional Clubmaker’s Society. As a skilled teacher, Jay can evaluate swing and equipment needs for tour performance fitting. Jay has worked with the equipment needs of tour players, junior players and the special equipment needs for the physically challenged.

“Our goal is to offer the playing public access to the same performance fitting that professional golfers get on tour,” Bessler says. “That has to include SST PURE Shaft Alignment.”

Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft's most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its PURE orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface by the golfer improves up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts - steel or graphite - from most major manufacturers. To date, more than 200 players on the PGA Tour have experienced the benefit of SST PURE Shaft Alignment.

Headquartered in Miami, Strategic Shaft Technologies, LC, was founded by Weiss, who was the creator of the SST PURE® process. The patented SST PURE process of club assembly - deemed in compliance with USGA standards - locates each shaft's irregularities and aligns the shaft to neutralize them, so that each club bends in the direction it should - straight down the target line. Upon having his shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft that has been PUREd. The SST PURE process of golf shaft alignment is available at SST PURE licensees around the United States and internationally.
