MIAMI, Fla. -- Strategic Shaft Technologies, LC, (SST) and United Sports Technologies, Inc., (UST), have executed an agreement that will combine SST PUREŽ shaft alignment with UST's top-selling Proforce GoldŽ shafts. The non-exclusive, multiyear license will make the new PROFORCE PURE GOLD shafts the first factory-PUREd shafts ever produced.

UST's decision to offer PROFORCE PURE GOLD as an option in its 2003 product line is a significant challenge to existing manufacturing technology, as well as a major step for SST PURE technology. Early indications suggest that many golf retailers and professional club makers are excited at the prospect of having pre-PUREd PROFORCE shafts, which will come with logos properly positioned and in perfect alignment for easy assembly.

Just as automobile tires must be balanced for maximum performance, a golf club's performance can be optimized by proper shaft alignment. The SST PURE technology uses proprietary computer software and ultra-sensitive data-acquisition sensors to locate a shaft's most stable orientation. When the club is assembled with the shaft in this PUREd orientation, off-line bending and twisting are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface improves up to 51 percent. SST PURE, which has been used by more than 160 PGA TOUR players, will allow every PROFORCE PURE GOLD shaft to perform uniformly.

UST's Proforce shafts have been the No. 1 replacement shafts in the world for the past three years. The PURE GOLD option will be available in UST's Proforce 55, 65, 75, ATR shafts, as well as the all-new Proforce XL Ultra Light shaft. UST plans to code every PROFORCE PURE GOLD shaft with a serial number that will allow the owner to access that shaft's unique PUREing data through the UST website. This will take the place of the printout that currently accompanies every non-factory-PUREd shaft.
