Golden Bear goes low with SST PURE® Feb. 6, 2003 MIAMI (Feb. 6, 2003) -- Jack Nicklaus shot his lowest round in more than six years last weekend at the MasterCard Championship playing with shafts that had been SST PURE® aligned. Nicklaus, whose final-round 66 in Hawaii earned him in a tie for 11th place, is one of nearly 200 Champions, PGA and LPGA golfers who have benefited from Strategic Shaft Technologies' computerized shaft analysis and alignment to provide optimal club performance. "It was great seeing the best player in the history of golf elevate his game once again aided by properly aligned golf shafts,” SST founder Dick Weiss said. "Besides consistency and uniformity, players utilizing SST PURE aligned shafts experience a softer feel at impact." Every golf shaft contains structural irregularities, and these irregularities can cause adverse effects during the golf swing. Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes a shaft to locate its most stable orientation and neutralize the adverse effects of irregularities that exist in every shaft. When the club is assembled with the shaft in this PUREd orientation, off-line bending and twisting are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface improves up to 51 percent. The process, which has been utilized by more than 150 PGA TOUR players, can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts -- steel or graphite -- from most major manufacturers. Upon having his shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft which has been PUREd. The SST PURE process of golf shaft alignment is available at SST PURE licensees around the United States.
