SST PURE®

MIAMI — Strategic Shaft Technologies has joined forces with European golf equipment manufacturer Makser to bring together the world’s leading shaft-alignment technology and Europe’s most-triumphant golf clubs. By January 2004, the result of the new alliance will be ‘Makser PURE’ woods and irons, a blend of golf technologies that promises to be a potent combination.

Makser has always been at the forefront of technological equipment advances, pushing the envelop to create breakthroughs such as its patented Airflow Stabilizer which increases clubhead speed and stability. Makser was also the first major golf brand to introduce the UST Proforce shaft, the first to offer the now very popular Winn grips in Europe, and once again is ahead of the market with the introduction of SST PURE®.

“With our combined technologies, I believe we have optimized the synergy between clubhead and shaft performance…an incredibly potent combination,” says Makser Chairman Felipe Artola, whose company holds the Guinness World Record for the longest drive (408 yards carry distance). “This new alliance with SST PURE allows us to deliver the total package — maximum clubhead performance with the Air Flow stabilizer and optimized shaft performance through SST PURE.”

Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft's most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its PURE orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the centre of the clubface by the golfer improves up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on new or existing clubs, on both graphite and steel shafts.

Makser will increase its presence on the European Tour with the assistance of The Golf Factor, a London-based OEM club assembler and SST licensee. Makser, which will be selling 'Makser PURE' throughout Europe, joins Henry-Griffitts on the list of OEMs who offer SST PURE technology.

The patented SST PURE process of club assembly — deemed in compliance with USGA standards — locates each shaft’s irregularities and aligns the shaft to neutralize them, so that each club bends in the direction it should — straight down the target line.

Upon having his shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft that has been PUREd. The SST PURE process of golf shaft alignment is available at SST PURE licensees around the United States and internationally.
