New Golf Etc.-Folsom Offers SST PURE® Shaft Alignment

May 14, 2004

FOLSOM, Calif. — When California’s newest Golf Etc. location opens its doors this weekend, Golden State golfers will have privileged access to a level of custom clubfitting rarely available in California. In addition to a full array of pro-line golf equipment and accessories, the new Golf Etc. Folsom is a proud licensee of the patented SST PURE® technology, the leading shaft-alignment process in the world and on the PGA Tour.

Since its 1999 introduction by Strategic Shaft Technologies of Miami, the SST PURE shaft-alignment process has been one of the hottest topics in the golf industry and been embraced by more than 200 professional golfers on the PGA, Champions and European Tours. Today, the sophisticated process that minimizes off-line shaft bending at impact is at the heart of the custom-fitting service offered by the new Golf Etc. Folsom.

“I’m very happy to welcome Golf Etc. Folsom as our newest SST PURE licensee,” says Dick Weiss of Strategic Shaft Technologies, founder of the SST PURE shaft-alignment process. “Just as the professional golfers have recognized the performance benefits of SST PURE, Golf Etc. owners Dennis and Sylvia Morris know that repeatability and consistency in shot-making are essential and they’ve demonstrated an outstanding commitment to providing excellence in custom clubfitting.”

In addition to being the second only SST PURE licensee in California (California Golf Technologies in Palo Alto was the first), Golf Etc. Folsom is a full-service, 3,000-square-foot, golf retail and custom-fitting center equipped with a high-tech Golf Achiever Launch Monitor and True Temper Shaft Lab to provide golfers with a complete analysis of their swing and fitting factors such as ball speed and launch angle. Golf Etc. Folsom joins more than two dozen licensed SST PURE distributors in the United States and the United Kingdom as well as Australia, Korea, Japan, Ireland, France and Spain.

“We are committed to custom clubfitting and we want every golfer to experience the joy of playing golf with equipment that fits and equipment that represents the highest level of technological advancement,” says Dennis Morris. “Our goal is to educate and assist golfers in playing their best golf ever.”

Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft’s most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its PURE orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface by the golfer improves up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts — steel or graphite — from most major manufacturers.

Headquartered in Miami, Strategic Shaft Technologies, LC, was founded by clubmaker Dick Weiss, who was the creator of the SST PURE® process. The patented SST PURE process of club assembly — deemed in compliance with USGA standards — locates each shaft’s irregularities and aligns the shaft to neutralize them, so that each club bends in the direction it should — straight down the target line. Upon having his shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft that has been PUREd. The SST PURE process of golf shaft alignment is available at SST PURE licensees around the United States and internationally.
